There are four public parking lots that are convenient to Culture Crawl activities on Friday, October 9, 2015. The parking deck on the corner of Lewis Street and Main Street (entrances on both Lewis and Main) is just a half block from the train station plaza and a block from Cherry Street’s Street Food Fair and Artist Showcase.
A second public parking lot (driveway on Lewis Street) is available near area restaurants, the shuttle pickup, and the Street Food Fair on Cherry Street.
The third parking lot is also near the Street Food Fair and Artist Showcase on Cherry Street. The driveway on Main Street will be open to vehicular traffic, but the Cherry Street driveway will be closed.
The fourth parking lot is on Hamilton Street. This large lot is just a block from many of the activities and events at the north end of Irving Street.
Street parking is also available on Irving and Main Streets.
A free shuttle will be operating from 6:00-9:00 pm on the night of Culture Crawl. Shuttle stops are marked with a S on the map, (stops at the Parking Deck on Lewis Street and in front of Rahway Arts District Park).
Please note Irving Street will be closed between Lewis Street and E. Milton Avenue. East Cherry Street will be closed between Irving Street and Main Street.
A downloadable map for Culture Crawl 2013 will be available online on Monday, September 23. Printed maps will be available on the night of the event as well – just look for any Rahway Arts volunteer!
We’re pleased to release this new video about Culture Crawl in Rahway, NJ. The video was produced by event producer Celeste Santana and cinematographer Christian Nin. Filmed immediately after Culture Crawl 2012, the video captures the energy of the event and the growing Rahway Arts District.
In early August, artist J.D. McGuire transformed Arts Guild New Jersey’s three-dimensional “ART” sculpture with a bold, colorful mural. J.D. received his M.F.A. in Sculpture at Mason Gross School of the Arts. He is a professor at several NJ colleges, and an instructor at Arts Guild New Jersey.
Look for J.D.’s art on CULTURE CRAWL 2013 promotional materials around town.
“Any city can benefit from the installation of Public Art. It becomes a destination or attraction by itself, but it can also direct people to other nearby locations to take advantage of more things that the city has to offer.
The Art Sculpture at Arts Guild New Jersey has gone through a great transformation, thanks to the talents of J.D. McGuire who has been an Arts Guild art instructor for the past few years and relocated to Rahway just a few months ago. He has definitely taken the ART sculptural piece up several notches as a very wonderful work of Art that sings out to visitors and passersby and leaves no question about what they might expect to find at Arts Guild NJ. I think it’s a very welcome addition to the growing Rahway Arts District.”
