New Culture Crawl video launches

We’re pleased to release this new video about Culture Crawl in Rahway, NJ. The video was produced by event producer Celeste Santana and cinematographer Christian Nin. Filmed immediately after Culture Crawl 2012, the video captures the energy of the event and the growing Rahway Arts District.

Spotlight Artist: J.D. McGuire

In early August, artist J.D. McGuire transformed Arts Guild New Jersey’s three-dimensional “ART” sculpture with a bold, colorful mural. J.D. received his M.F.A. in Sculpture at Mason Gross School of the Arts. He is a professor at several NJ colleges, and an instructor at Arts Guild New Jersey.

Look for J.D.’s art on CULTURE CRAWL 2013 promotional materials around town.

“Any city can benefit from the installation of Public Art. It becomes a destination or attraction by itself, but it can also direct people to other nearby locations to take advantage of more things that the city has to offer.

The Art Sculpture at Arts Guild New Jersey has gone through a great transformation, thanks to the talents of J.D. McGuire who has been an Arts Guild art instructor for the past few years and relocated to Rahway just a few months ago. He has definitely taken the ART sculptural piece up several notches as a very wonderful work of Art that sings out to visitors and passersby and leaves no question about what they might expect to find at Arts Guild NJ. I think it’s a very welcome addition to the growing Rahway Arts District.”

River Theme Announced for Culture Crawl 2013

Among other soon-to-be announced news for Culture Crawl 2013, this year’s event will feature a theme.

The theme for Culture Crawl 2013 is The River.  The River has a strong presence in Rahway. The Rahway River and its branches run through many neighborhoods in the town. Our park system is built around the rivers and lakes. The River symbolizes life, nature, beauty, and recreation, but can also represent tremendous power, danger, and destruction (as we experienced during the devastating storms of Irene and Sandy).  River pollution, sustainability, land use and water resources are critical global issues. The River impacts our daily lives and our stewardship will influence the lives of generations to come.

The theme provides inspiration for the creation of new work, performances and music capturing the movement, mood, and presence of the ever-changing River.
